I photographed Lydia and Burk's wedding only two days after Moses was born. Katherine spent the weekend with her family while I traveled down to Oregon still wearing my hospital bracelet. Six weeks later a tired father finally shares the images. The day started out with on-and-off rain, but everybody held their breath and the conditions ended up being perfect for an outdoor beach wedding.

We had a delightful engagement shoot a few months back, and it was great to reunite with Lydia and Burk at this beautiful seaside location with great friends, family, and food. It's not every wedding that I get into candid conversations with the groomsmen about Martin Buber, I-Thou, tradition & theology, ecumenical dreams, etc... Needless to say, there were kindred spirits all around. The ceremony's archway was made of driftwood from Lydia's parent home in Port Townsend, the serving dishes and vases were collected from thrift and vintage stores, and both the bride's and flowergirl's dresses were made by Lydia's mother Shan.

A truly cosmopolitan romance. Their love story began in Australia, was realized in Japan, and was made matrimonial in Canada. Courtney was able to lure Justin from his hometown of Los Angeles to her cowboy-filled city of Calgary, Alberta. It was a joy to witness their romance and meet their family & friends who parachuted in from around the globe. My right hand man was Mr Andy Nichols, and in my left hand was a rye & ginger.
